Biography:

Born on Oct. 17th, 1969 on planet Venus as the 7th child of three mothers. At the age of four he learns to play the Venusian windharp, a traditional ceremonial instrument. Also educated and trained in poetry (Venusian poetry sounds somewhat like human music) and other arts.

At the age of eight he gets married to a windpriest. Plays the windharp at ceremonies.

When he is 16 his wife is killed because of the growing respectlessness on planet Earth. He retires into himself to write poems to escort his wife into eternity.

A year later he asks for permission to go to planet Earth for a mission of love and respect. Because of his outstanding performances as windharpist at many ceremonies he is given this permission.
It takes him another 16 years before he is able to breathe on hostile planet Earth. During this time he discovers Earthly poetry which is actually called music there (as mentioned above human music resembles the sounds of Venusian poetry - the Venusian language uses specific sounds to represent things and ideas and not a combination of short meaningless sounds as in human language). So called "experimental music" in particular reminds him of Venusian poems he loved.
He realizes that this music fills people with peace and love.
But he also realizes that most Earthlings prefer aggressive and over-simplifying tabloids (which they call pop music) over those fragile poems. So he decides to start his mission by spreading those poems among the humans.

Autodidactically he learns how to play the available instruments and he studies the Earthly methods of distribution of poetry.

Reviews:

On "Patience":

Maru has back with his second fulllenth on his Japanese ideology oriented chmafu nocords. His eclectic unpredictable sound that u can find on his first full lenth and on his many compilation appearances is here too. You can not allow yourself to expect some particular sound on patience. Thats why it is called patience. You have to be patient just listen and let the sounds drive your thoughts thru unknown vast spaces of your subconsciousness. There u will find fear, death, irrationality, chaos and all that ideas that you are frighten to admit to yourself. This album can be also seen as a soundtrack. Soundtrack of scariest days of your live. when u r passing thru period of paranoia. Not a horror movie but a horror reality. Mixed minds, confusion, irrational thoughts. everything is here.
from the other perspective u can see this release as a step forward in marufura fufunjirus music. It is quiet consistent in sound, without rhythm and totally abstract. From ambiental soundscapes through noisy parcels to incomprehensible undentified glitchy distant radio frequencies. You can also find some vocal sample marks which task is just to remind u where are you: ' maybe he should be taken to a doctor'.
Design of the release (which is work of maru itself) is very nice and u can also find it with different alternative cover design. Also a remix variant of patience with very provocative artists will follow.
Get ready for total eclipse of your mind.

Horror noise rears its ugly bubbling head , this time in the incarnation of Marufura Fufunjiru .I can't really tell if the guy behind this release is Japanese or just a wannabe that actually eats his cereal in Graz , Austria , but i wouldn't be surprise if it's actually the same guy who runs the "Non Profit" (yeah , right) small label of Chmafo Nocords. Anyhow , although geographical location has its' importance , we'll focus here on the music , so your guess is good as mine.

This is music that will make you confused , that's the only thing i'm sure of. Your head will spin like you've just been hit in a seductive car accident a la "Crash" by J.G Ballard. This is a sure prescription for an ear hemorrhage , expect constant bleeding through listening to the entire album. Marufura Fufunjiru loads layers over layers of shrieking white buzzing noises and he never gets tired or fed up , nor my ears , who are more than curious to hear what kind of noize he's gonna abuse next , what horrific samples (like on "Bath") we'll stretch the tension to a new level of boiling insanity and how come he's allowing himself to joke around with a surprisingly melodic tune all of a sudden and goofy vocals on "Dhrugetsute" before it goes berzerk ? .once again , your guess is good as mine , but this is pretty good stuff.

Morning Star Verses

Marufura Fufunjiru is based in Graz, Austria, but he actually was born on planet Venus. In his newest work, “Patience”,  this artist presents what on his planet is called poetry. In 72 minutes one can hear a traditional Venusian soirée of 17 pieces that are typical sonnets, ballads, songs, hymns, odes and elegias from one of the brightest planets of our solar system. On some of them, like for example on the track “It Loud” there are even sampled human voices that are obtained from radio and films.

If the sound of the Venusian language is unintelligible to you, the album may sound like a refined mixture of post-industrial, concrete, electroacoustic and ambient music. But the Venusian metrics are much more complex than simple sound drawings and sculptures that would be meaningful to the human ear. On “Patience”, each verse is measured in degrees of uncertainty so that each poem is a combination and an arrangement of random alphanumeric variables. This results in uncountable phrases in Venusian language and to us, humans, chromo-textural noises that satisfy the desirous ears by the best avant-garde music.

Visit chmafu nocords at http://nocords.net and acquire maru's albums “Patience” and “Almost” as both are very rich anthologies of the poetic art from the Morning Star.

N0-age

Deep sea cyborg whales and dolphins lazily, druggedly signal each other ... immediately adrift, one's ears are the path to the soul snagged by the siren of sound manipulation ... lullingness gives way to soft sounds of pain, if torture was muddled, relaxed, designed for your chillout ... is some gremlin vocalizing while time distorts down to slow around utterances of pain ... one slowly becomes aware of the feel of life in all its forms coming to you distorted through a veil of soft static atmosphere ... strange and interesting drifts of texture, some recognizable in a warp of its former earth life, some a soundscape of interdimensional noise transfer. Subdued but intimidating at times.

On "So Who's Insane" (w/ dogsimada):

Static pulse, hollow satellite song, behold musicality of anotehr universe or lifetime, let yourself sleep and bear witness to the new state of being, dark it is but calling your name, don't be afraid to sleep to new lullabies. Overall quiet, a sound-noisescape weaving iwth stretches of subtle musicality and fiddled-with samples. This are a kind of experimental musings I can float in. It's got more edge than some softer noise/experimental but for those not afraid of the dark (since dark=evil is NOT true ...) can find rest here for a time. Be adrift, let the combined forces of Dogsimada and Marufura Fufunjiru work their strange magic on you. The beauty is how it's done. Dogsimada's work fills the left channel and M.F. takes the right channel. The result is a unique approach to achieving a layered work of fairly chilled avant garde.

FishComCollective

One of the things that I enjoy most doing, is listening to the attempts of musicians to create a different, and interesting atmosphere. That becomes harder throughout the years, why? You ask? Well, we, as human beings, aspire for more, and that results in an effort to create new things, or re-invent existing things, so we wont repeat ourselves or step into certain rubrics or Paradigms. So we’re constantly on a quest to renew and experiment. Some of which is expressed in propitiation of the moment, and some in simple forward thinking, I would define a musician as something of a chemist, trying to combine different molecules, and different ingredients in creating now compound, which has all-new characteristics, such color, odor, and flavor. The avant-garde musician I would define as an alchemist, using materials that seem or may be defined as worthless or incomprehensible, turning them into a new, interesting musical product, with real worth and importance. On many occasions such artists use minimalist or extremely complex album covers, In this came I came across such an interesting album that too many descriptions will only do it injustice- The album is extremely experimental and unique, using a concept that is the broadest sense of the definition of the stereophonic dimension, The sounds that come through the right speaker exist there only, and the sound from the left just in it.

What’s new? You ask?

Well, this is a split album of two experimental music artists: Dogsimada and marufura fufunjiru, both highly respected for their unique, uncompromising music. Here they joined forces in order to create an album which will contain both their compositions when played in unison, in full synchronicity, thus creating an amazing piece of music, Dogsimada is played in the left channel while Marufura is played in the right. An truly spectacular symbiosis between the two artists is created, dissimilar to any split album ever created, each artist actually playing a complete album on one side of the stereo.. The pieces themselves move from very noisy power noise to relaxed dark ambient and some drone bits as well. Describing the thing is extremely difficult, there’s no substitute to listening to the thing. Take my advice, listen to this, its hard to remain oblivious to it, its both interesting and challenging.

On "Fragile":

I know absolutely nothing about Marufura Fufunjiru, except that this cdr is released by Kazuya Ishigami's Neus318 - but what a nice surprise it is. Fufunjiru's music is a moody, solemn flux of ominous droning frequencies and soft digital ashes, at times nearly silent, at others building up menacing walls of sound (though not with a brutal harsh noise aesthetic). As this music is obviously nothing new or unheard by now, Fufunjiru's strength lies in his taste and in the care for every single sound particle - there's a lot of discipline behind these free-flowing sonic clusters. I can't compare it to anyone in particular, but an artist who has experimented with a similar drones+glitches sound is Cordell Klier; but you can also think of a mix of performers as diverse as Lull, Asmus Tietchens, Akira Rabelais and Mika Vainio (circa "Onko"). A truly enjoyable release, with a definite emotional impact: glass is fragile, but it can cut deep.

chaindlk

We know Marufura Fufunjiru by his work on small label Chmafu nocords. He is living in his apartment in Graz, Austria, but he is Venusian. That?s what he is saying about his origins. Or that?s just his way to resist unintelligent and imperfect human politics. Anarchist in his convictions, he is trying to change the world. On better for sure. And all that with his music. He has couple of releases by now and this is his last, released on Japanese label Neus 318 owned by Kazuya Ishigami? (who for instance have release on Chmafu). "Fragile" is consisted of five tracks, every in different experimental direction. First track is starting as simple sinewave oscillating tone in which, constant crackle flow slowly is penetrating, vibrating and evolving together in noisy drive. At the end it is fading out till its total silence. Second track is another long piece, in which eleven minutes, cold, dark, ambient sound continuously is blowing as wind, frosting all around it self. Shimmer and icy sounds of that freezing process are attaching to the main structure, plus some short noise and glitch cut ups are applied. Third song has also something with sinewaves. More clear and stronger sinewave parts are changing their pitch constantly on various time intervals. Microscopic glitches and crackles are offering microsoundish dimension. First of last 2 shorter tracks is glitchy cut up piece with much silence between small noisy parts. And last piece gives finish to the release with combination of before used styles and sounds, including sinewaves, noise and calm micro glitchy elements giving peaceful, calm and listenable end. As the whole release is.

Staalplaat/Vital

Marufura Funfunjira from Graz, Austria is the founder of the record label Chmafu nocords. This CD, Fragile, is his third solo album and was released on the Japanese label Neus-318. This unusual CD starts off with the track fragile, a warm overtone sound later accompanied by a heavy but pure drone that throbs as little drips of digital noise splatter the soundscape. This later turns from a calm warm feeling into a raw quiet crackle and is then developed into a rougher, darker soundworld dominated by what sounds like a reverberant muted trombone burst. It gives the impression of moving from a warm sunny day into a dark rain soaked one. The rain delicately eases off leaving a glimpse of other sounds blotting in and out. Other tracks on the CD tend to evoke an overall otherworldly feeling of eerie electronic soundscapes such as in track two, widerstand gegen die staatsgewalt (taten), where a constantly moving sound which almost sounds like a windstorm from a distance with added electronic high frequencies for good measure. Unusual deep noises appear in and out of the background and as the piece develops it becomes more and more alien and distorted. Maybe this guy really is from Venus. Track 04, a group is less than the sum of its parts, is beautifully simple and consists of occasional blurts of delicate digital sounds surrounded by a shroud of silence. This idea is continued in the last track, caged hopes, although there is a repetitive sound in the background and an incredibly subtle beat blip running through giving it some sense of structure. It almost sounds like some lost signalling on a radio. A very quiet and beautifully subtle form of communication.

On "The Beauty And The Dolls":

maru windet sich durch die Schaltkreise seiner apparaturen und erzählt geschichten von maschinenlärm, drones und weissem rauschen. So eine reise ist gefärhlich, dementsprechend bedrohlich schleichen sich die soundexperimente ins ohr. Regisseur David Lynch würde sich über derartige filmmusik sicher sehr freuen.

Megaphon
